Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health reviewed the data from 8 medical studies where the subjects had made the switch in the journal PLoS Medicine. These studies also included the medical data concerning heart disease and stroke. What they found was every 5 percent increase in polyunsaturated fats, the risk for heart disease decreased by 10 percent and the benefits further increase depending on the longer switchover times.
